Hi Oriana, I only can say the same thing, thanks for sharing your memories of S&D. I have one question: Have you met Mark Ferguson on the set of sons and daughters? Bye, Charlie (Nele)

oh, ok. thanks for the information. ;D But have you an idea, why he left S&D? Unfortunately I don't know much about S&D and the actos, nobody knows the series in Germany. What a pity, it's a great serie.

Hi Oriana - really great that you take the time to answer your fans on here! The internet is a fabulous thing! I have a hundred-and-one questions for you, (and could answer a hundred-and-one questions in return! ), but I'll start with just one: those blue periwinkle-like earings you wore for a long, long time on S&D - were they your choice, and do you still have them? Ok, so that was two questions already! ;D

Spider.... you give me the gift of laughter.... ;D periwinkle earrings!!! Ah the things ppl remember I wore what they gave me.... sometimes the clothes were to big and the wardrobe dept would just grab a bit at the back and pin it with a large safety pin!!! There were jewellery and hair styles that they favoured and would repeat them often. I don't have any jewellery but I do have a number of outfits from when the show ended and they said we could BUY them! That's right we had to buy them! Well they only asked like $2 or something but still.... So I took the pretty flowery dress that Susan wore often.. I liked that one... maybe coz it fitted well LOL And I had to buy Alison's famous outfit! The one with a black velvet tight skirt and gold top with velvet pokadots and thick black velvet belt that pulled the wrap around top with hugh sleeves into to a tiny waist so the ends of the top hung out over the tight skirt like a frill.... hope I've explained it OK.... can't remember now when she wore that number.... I loved Alison!

You know...it's funny.... I looked at the S&D outfits a couple of months ago when I was cleaning up the back shed. They're in a luggage bag along with other momentos from roles and shows I've done...
There's also a windsheater (sloppy-joe) with Sons and Daughters on it and the last cast and crew all signed it.... I think Ian organised that Yep!... he got us all to sign our names under our character name or crew role etc. and then printed them up and handed them out on the last day of shoot. He's a goodhearted person.
I just can't part with them yet... even with my husband's impatience for more room in the shed! HA! I'm not ready to let go yet.
Hahaha... coming on here will definitely not help me in letting go either... reminiscing like this! YOU GUYS!!!! LOL

Hi Oriana It's great to have you on the board, Im a fan of S&D (well, all Australian tv) from the U.K. I've been wondering -- how come Sons And Daughter had such a nosedive in it's final year? While your character got some great storylines (though that "maria's confession tape" story went on for about 30 episodes!) certain characters became way over the top (esp. Wayne and Sarah Kemp's character, Charlie) -- and the storylines (Rowena Wallace being a lost lost identical twin etc.) -- why did this all happen? It felt like some of the new writers had never seen the show before. At least you were one of a great aussie soap's saving graces in it's last season

You're sweet Hunter.... but Susan faked 3 suicides and tried to run Wayne down! And became a gambler and and and .... but I always did by best to be honest with what they gave me (even if it didn't make much sense sometimes) But that's SOAP OPERA in all it's glory.... melodrama... I must admit though as an Actor it was much more fun to play Susan when she went crazy than when she was sweet and nice. Basically the show got desperate Hunter when ratings started to fall... so they did what they could to try and shock viewers into watching. But it was all in good fun.... all shows come to an end eventually.... there are some shows that should end before the writers run out of ideas!

Hi Oriana - thanks for the answer to my earring question - I wonder where they are now?! They did suit you tho! There wasn't much publicity over here in England for Sons and Daughters in the 80s, it was very much a word-of-mouth sort of thing. It was also on during the afternoon here, so many people didn't get to see it. I think if it had been on later in the day then maybe we could have saved it from the axe like British sales seemed to save Neighbours. I loved the later bizarre Dynasty-style storylines - it was a bit far fetched & repetitive to have Susan keep doing fake suicides tho - but because she became such a central character I think we all tried to get inside her head and forgive her for what she put Beryl & everyone else through. Did you ever meet the original Susan? It must've been hard to take over another actress's role. After I'd seen you for a couple of episodes it was like the old Susan had never existed and you made the character your own. The show was going through a bit of a change at the time you joined too - characters disappearing left right and centre - I guess there was a lot of uncertainty with the cast and crew.
