I'll probably be shot for saying this...(please refrain though as it is illegal) I always remember fast forwarding through a lot of Palmer storylines....Beryls biscuits anyone? Beryl's baby being kidnapped...again! If the episode had Wayne, Patricia or Alison in I'd really enjoy it. I guess "rich people playing power games with peoples lives" episodes were a lot more interesting than "Craig & Dibbie wash cars" episodes or "Beryl's making another Pavlova" episodes What about you?

I'm a Palmer fan through and through. Anything with Steve Comey is just my cup of tea. ;D

Quite liked the Palmers, used to fast forward through the O'Brien stuff though (and also through judy's halfway house stuff on PCBH)

I didn't fast forward through anythink. But when I do see the series again, at some point, I will fast forward through all the Craig and Debbie and the O'brian stuff. I could never get bored of the scheaming and plotting that Wayne, Patrica, and Alison did between them. And all the emotions and dramas of the second Susan

I watched the whole lot too. I agree some things mentioned were hardlys exciting drama, but I think they balanced the show well with the scheming and devious stuff. Sons and Daughters was a bit OTT, and I think thats why we all love it,but if they didnt show the less intersting storylines it may have seemed even more sillier than it became. Hope I made sense there....lol
Oh yeah I also fast forwarded through the Judys halfway house stuff on Prisoner too, unless Helen Smart was around cos I liked her!

At the moment I don’t fast forward through anything because this is the first time I have ever seen the series and I don’t want to miss anything Regarding prisoner it is one of my favorite shows and I have the complete series on DVD which I have watched from start to finish once and have just started to do it again and yes I must admit I did fast forward through some scenes with Judy and the halfway house and also some cringworthy scenes like the dance marathon last time I watched the series and I will probably do it this time round as well and yep I liked Helen to she was a great character but my favorite character of all time is Bobbie Mitchell

What I loved about S&D in the first few years was that the hamiltons only worked cos of the palmers and vice versa. And Anne Henderson Stires was DULL and Gordon was just So Dull (I'm sure a nice man but why would you cast him?!) but somehow it didn't matter cos the down to earth almost dreary dullness of the palmers - made dural and the hamiltons even more exciting. Palmers gave the show heart (i think a lot of this was due to boring Beryl, actually) and Patricia and Wayne gave it magic.
BUT when Posie Jacobs took over it all went wrong - the Palmers just got really boring, cos once Beryl was single she just got large and had no function and it was like watching paint dry.
Can I say what I would have done?kj
And i know this is BOLD!!!
But if i had been posie jacobs I would have KILLED OFF beryl and created a new down to earth family who could have clashed with Caroline and the new characters.
I know that's heresy, but Beryl and her increasingly depressing set had NO REASON TO BE IN THE SHOW!!! And she got grumpier and fatter and more boring. AND EVERYTHING SUFFERED!!!!
And I think if they'd done that (and possibly killed off Gordon - sorry!!) i think show would have run for so much longer!
WHat does everyone else think?

I thought the later years of the show was more interesting and stronger. Loved the scheming between Wayne and Alison. It was more intense, than what it was between him and Patrica. Think Patrica was just interesting in just getting on top with business. But with Alison it was business and stopping Wayne from getting with Susan. Then there were some good story lines surrounding Susan, the suicides, gambling, glen, and coming back from the dead. Noticed how at first Susan was against Alison, then in time they became good friends, and helped each other.

Wow........ Kill off Beryl. What a story that would have been. Who would have killed her?. I would guess at Rod's mad house keeper Doris or maybe Heather O'Brien who was totally distrort at having to give up baby Robert. Perhaps Gordon could have been killed off in the car crash!! Must admit I am surprised at Posie not killing off Beryl, bearing in mind how grumpy Leila appears to be. The later two thirds of the 1986 run are a bit boring and dull. But IMO the 1987 season is one of the best (what do you guys think?) P.S. "Sons and Daughters" Prisoner was cool!!. Although I agree the dance marathon was pretty awful stuff. Myra was probably my fav character, didn't mind Bobbie though

After they fell in the hole, Beryl should have gone to Brisbane, and David should... hmm... probably have stayed. I guess. Cos Patricia / Alison loved him, if for no other reason...

Oh dear......guilty as charged! ;D I think I've already admitted on another thread to fast-forwarding through the O'Briens from my ITV recordings - I also did the very same with the Palmers, at least until they became more involved with the Hamilton storylines that I followed closely. And, in the closing years, just about every scene involving Craig and Debbie also went the same way. In my defence, though, I watched the whole series ("live") when it aired on UK Gold - at both 8.00am and 12.00 noon ( it must have done relatively well ratings-wise to retain its timeslots for the whole 972 episodes - other soaps and series were moved all over the place!!!) and again on the Channel Five repeats. Another daytime series I also frequently got through in less than 25 minutes was "Families" - maybe others here remember that? Originally to run for just 104 episodes, with action in both the UK and Australia, it was ultimately extended to 323 episodes, but with a substantially changed cast (and, eventually, all the action moved to the UK). I couldn't take to the Richards family at all, and fast-forwarded through most of their scenes! But it picked up nearer the end, with the introduction of the Bannerman family, and several episodes featuring them only. This might have been inspired to some extent by "Sons and Daughters".
