Have a go at these questions - just for fun!
1. What name did Alison use when she disguised herself as a hospital cleaner to try and get information from the files to help clear her name?
2. What did Charlie buy Patricia and David as a housewarming/wedding present when they moved (or planned to move) into the country house at Sunbury?
3. Where did Beryl's parents, Aileen and Bob, live?
4. What present did Karen buy her son Alan when he was discharged from hospital, shortly before he died?
5. How did Samantha discover that Bill Ashley had something to do with Amanda's disappearance?

But you are spot on James! We just need an answer to Question 4 - Karen's present to Alan. Clue: think 80s.

Great thinking, but not right! Something that first came out in the 80s, is still somewhat popular today, and has many more versions now than the basic one!

You sound like Roy Walker! ok - how about Rubik's Cube? It's good, but it's not right! No, but it was a game of some sort. Apparently introduced in the early 80s, reached its peak of popularity around 1984/85, and has since been developed a lot with specialist editions.

I think Karen's gift for Alan when he was close to death might have been a Trivial Pursuit game. That would at least fit the clues given here?!
I could be wrong, as I don't actually recall him being given it by Karen - although I'm fairly sure that he was at least seen playing it at one point with a not very interested / not very good at it Leigh?

Yep, that was it! i vaguely remember a scene when Karen and Wayne return from a short break somewhere and present Alan with the game. There was a scene with Leigh and him playing it, as you remember. It also featured in the scene (cut by Channel Five) where Karen attempts suicide in the Hamilton's garage. When Karen is looking for clothes to stuff in the exhaust pipe, she opens her suitcase and we see the Trivial Persuit game. This was after Alan had died, and was a somewhat poignant moment Channel Five viewers missed out on. Well done everyone! All questions answered!
