Just thought it was interesting to ask! I guess we all have different reasons. back in the 1980s I found the first few years utterly addictive. I'd never seen anythng like it before - so ordinary and yet so exrtraordinary. It got under my skin in a way Dallasand dynasty just didn't. I loved Patricia, loved mosto f the characters, and was constantly surprised by the various revelations...

Good question. When I was at school I finised at 2.30 so was home for 3. Sons and Daughters was on about 3.30 and I remember going back to school and everyone was talking about it. I became obsessed with Australia as well (still am!!! lol) so watching S&D made it more interesting. I loved the storylines at the beginning but I remember about a year before it finished thinking some of the storylines were becoming a bit silly but I still watched it to see what hapened to everybody. ;D

I remember my mum watching it when Id get in from School ( Although I lived in North Wales for some strange reason we got Central TV) and I think I used to see these amazing cliffhangers (and for a long time I never got to see te resolution because thats when Id be making my way back from school!

Same as Glen - coming home to see exciting cliffhangers and being utterly hooked from then on. First one I saw was Patricia running for the door when attempting to marry David the first time. After that I stuck with it till the bitter end...
Have just re-watched the episodes with Richard Crampton trying to take Shane, culminating in Beryl's blind struggle to save him. Now THAT'S a cliffhanger! :-)

I used to work full time and have it taped to watch when I got home. There had been some moments when my Mother and sis used to have a marathon session of S&D at the weekends, and our Dad was banished to the kitchen to watch the tv in there lol

I remember first getting into Sons and Daughters when it first started in Scotland. I was watching the first episode with my dad and he said my mum (who was working) would love it. So I ended up taping it for her and we watched it later on or saved it for the weekends. I too became obsessed with it and Australia. Managed to visit Oz last year although I didnt visit any of the location, mainly due to the fact I didnt know where in the cities they were. I was coming back from St Kilda and I'm sure I passed a street with houses that looked like the Palmers. Managed to visit Ramsay Street and Summer Bay and saw some filming but Sons and Daughters is still my number one. Just wish some Sky channel, even an obscure one, would buy it and show it again.

Same as most, I remember getting in from school and it just starting with my Mum sat watching it. At first I was like 'I wish this would hurry up and finish so CITV would start' as that followed it.. then one day I saw the cliffhanger when Lynn was chasing Andy(around the cult time I think) and she slipped I think then the episode ended and all I could think of was Will he go back for her? and I just HAD to watch the next episode. From then on I never missed it. I loved the characters and storylines.

I think one of the best things about sons and daughters when I first saw it was that you never really knew what was going to happen. There were no soap mags or papers that carried spoilers so it was fresh. I remember watching the 1993 (i think) cliffhanger at Woombai where theres the three or four shots from the gun and all you see is an outside picture of woombai and not knowing who was actually shot..albeit a little let down when the 1994 season started. Its funny to see the 'Tony Parker' actor Grant Piro on Rain Shadow on Hallmark on Sundays.. he looks a lot older which just ages Sons and Daughters whereas when you see Beryl on YouTube she just looks the same, complete with tent dress.

Yeah I couldnt agree more with that. Was fantastic watching shows like Sons and Daughters and Prisoner first time around, as you had no idea what was going to happen.
