I just stumbled across this by reading about a "Young Doctors" DVD
"Umbrella Entertainment have recently announced that they'll be releasing the whole of Sons & Daughters on DVD"
In context
"Umbrella Entertainment have recently announced that they'll be releasing the whole of Sons & Daughters on DVD and A Country Practice and Prisoner (Cell Block H) are already being released in their entirety so we know that a massive audience exists for classic Australian drama serials.
"In addition with a brand new version of The Young Doctors about to be produced in Australia I would suggest that now is the ideal time for the release of the original series - viewers can enjoy the new show whilst also revisiting the classic episodes to see where it all began."
So if you are a fan of The Young Doctors and would like to see the entire series released on DVD you are urged to e-mail Umbrella Entertainment to show that the demand exists for this to happen. E-mail Andrew Mercado at info@umbrellaent.com.au"
The whole series of SAD? I dare not buy it. Leila Hayes would probably physically explode!
To be honest Im not sure I'd want the entire series. Im quite happy with a selections so far (Although Im still bloody waiting for my Classic Cliffhangers. Grrrr)

I dont think I would buy the whole series on DVD either,as much as I like the show. Like yourself im happy with the ones they have released so far.

Gosh I am surprised to see you both say that. I would certainly buy the whole series - I hope they do relase it all.
I have toyed with buying PCHB box set but I have heard the sound is not right on some of the discs and don't want to risk it as it would be a nuisance (and expensive) sending it back. I would probably buy TYD too though not sure about ACP.

Having said that, not yet though as my credit card statement arrived today with the £663 entry for my Prisoner boxset, which arrived yesterday

I was a bit surprised too - I thought that most people on here would jump at the chance of owning a full officially released S&D set - I would! I would too......despite having recorded them all from UK Gold, and almost all again from channel five!! "The Young Doctors" - yes, I'd buy a full official set of those on DVD too, if one were released. I never got into "A Country Practice", though. "Richmond Hill" is another one I'd like - and as there were only around 90-odd 45-minute episodes, it wouldn't take up quite as much space!! In all of these, though, I might be tempted to take the "slower path", as I am with "Prisoner Cell Block H". Volume 17 of that should be on the way to me soon!!

I would be very tempted to buy.....!! Sounds like these other DVD's have made a big impact otherwise they surely wouldn't release the full set.. ;D ;D

Thank you for your email. It’s great to hear you are enjoying the series. Umbrella Entertainment only has the rights to selected episodes of both SONS AND DAUGHTERS and THE YOUNG DOCTORS so we will not be able to release a complete set of all the episodes however we are doing our very best to release as much as we can. The above is the response to an email I sent the Umbrella - looks like they're not able to do it. Shame

Shame There is an interview with Andrew Mercado on the Soap Show at present: www.thesoapshow.com/mp3s/myWimpy.html.......which does seem to imply that a full release of "Young Doctors" is unlikely, but suggests that a full set of "Sons and Daughters" may still be possible!! This is only available till the end of the week - apparently it was last week's episode, and the first part of this week's is with Darren Grey (who I can barely make out at all - perhaps there were problems with the recording). There is also quite a lot of detail on the current and other future DVD releases - some of which sound tempting!!

Andrew told me:- "We are unsure where we are at with a complete series release though – Freemantle Media has decided it will have its own DVD department so Umbrella is waiting to hear about its request for S&D."

Well to be honest, I watched the last few years of Sons and Daughters on ITV,then a lot on UK Gold, then it all on Five and its quite fresh in my memory. As much as I like Sons and Daughters,I am buying the Prisoner DVD's aswell as the special 'Young Doctors/Sons and Daughters ones,so to be truthful I dont want to spend the money for every episode of Sons and Daughters.

Yes and it seems to have followed me around through my career. Watching it on ITV to introducing them on UK Gold and then introducing them again on Five. Strange world :-)

I would definetly buy the whole boxset reagrdless of price! There are so many episodes I don't have that were so good and ones I have forgotten or don't remember seeing so it would be amazing to have them all at my fingertips! I only have episodes mainly from the end of the show and some from the beginning so I'd love them all! I have all 3 DVD's out now and the entire series would just be amazing but I don't want to get my hopes up in case they decide not too but I'd die if they did, i'd be speechless!
